An art class in elementary school led Janet to study in the field of architecture. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1979 and worked for leading architectural and design firms in Texas, North Carolina, and Kansas for over 30 years. Another childhood experience, a field trip to see an art exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Modern Art introduced Janet to the works of Pablo Picasso and eventually led her back to her true passion, making art.
In 2000 Janet enrolled in art classes and sought teaching opportunities. She taught architectural and interior design classes at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC and at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS. In 2011 she received a Bachelor of Art in Art degree from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Currently Janet teaches printmaking workshops at the Charlotte Art League.
